Civil And Land Divisions Staff Trained on Video Conference Systems

Earlier, judicial and non-judicial staff in the Civil and Land Divisions received training on how to operate video conference system equipment. The training took place at Twed Towers in Nakasero, Kampala, and was conducted by Mr. Eliazali Lwanga for the Civil Division and Mr. Kizito Mike for the Land Division, both representatives from the contractor Access IT Limited.

The training aimed to familiarize participants with the System's functionality and provide them with the knowledge needed to operate it effectively.

Participants included Judges, Registrars, Magistrates, System Administrators, and Court Clerks.

Mr. Lwanga noted that the video conference system includes a network media processor, speakers, audio and display units, remote management capabilities, microphones, intelligence cameras with auto-tracking, auto-zoom, and auto-focus features, as well as other Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. It also features a document visualizer for scanning documents and allows for remote control on the Judiciary network from any station in the country.

Notably present for the Civil Division were Justice Ssekaana Musa (Head of the Division), Justice Dr. Emmanuel Baguma (Deputy Head), and Lady Justice Esta Nambayo (Judge at the Division). Also in attendance were HW Kintu Simon Zirintusa (Registrar), HW Mulalira Faisal Umar (Deputy Registrar), HW Nakadama Esther Lydia Mubiru (Assistant Registrar), and Magistrates Grade One attached to the Judges' chambers.

For the Land Division, attendees included Justice Asiimwe Tadeo (Deputy Head), Lady Justice Elizabeth Jane Alividza, Lady Justice Kazaarwe Olive Mukwaya, Justice Namanya Bernard, Lady Justice Nassuna Flavia Matovu, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala (Judges at the Division) among others. 

Additionally present were HW Natukunda Janeva (Deputy Registrar), HW Kagoda Moses S. Ntende(Assistant Registrar) as well as Magistrates Grade One attached to the Judges' chambers. 

Non-judicial staff attached to the different divisions were also present.

Background

The Judiciary, with support from the World Bank under the Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (CEDP), procured 11 sets of video conferencing systems.

The Civil and Land Divisions are among the Divisions where the equipment has been set up, installed, and configured.
